BSA – Parker Aperture sight on BSA - Tippins mounting S/H

A very rare rear aperture target sight for the Lee Enfield No 1 rifle the SMLE. Originally available in BSAs 1912 catalogue, it is also identified in “A century of Sights and Sighting Aids” by Edna Rosalind Parker as “This is the original Alfred Parker – ATC Hale backsight. It could be fitted on the LE rifle but was also made for Ross sporting rifles. Patented in 1910”.
This example is in very good condition and fully functioning, there is some damage to the head of the mounting set screw but this does not impair its functionality.
The mounting is marked BSA TIPPINS PPAT 24953-0 over 22619-09
The sight staff is marked BSAPARKER
