Pedersoli “Quigley” 1874 Sharps Rifle S/H Calibre 45 - 90
Product Details
Pedersoli’s rendering of Mathew Quigley’s famous Sharps rifle from the Tom Selleck film “Quigley Down Under” reflects credit on both the famous original Sharps buffalo gun and the film with the usual high quality Pedersoli fit, finish and smooth functioning.
The Sharps and the Rolling Block rifles were used to shoot the North American buffalo almost to extinction between 1840 and 1884 when the US government estimated that there were only 200 animals left alive in the wild.
This particular rifle is in excellent overall condition appearing to have been little used with an excellent 1 in 18” twist bore that will deliver the legendary Pedersoli accuracy. The blueing on the 34” octagonal barrel is smooth and deep, the colour case hardening on the receiver is finely figured as is the walnut stock and fore end which is fitted with a German silver cap. Being developed from the cavalry carbine this buffalo version it still retains the patch box and saddle ring. The Sharps falling block action is smooth and tight and is fitted with set triggers.
The rifle is chambered in the excellent 45-90 calibre which easily accommodates standard 45-70 loadings but has the extra capacity to ensure velocity and accuracy out 1000 yards.
This rifle is just what you need to compete in the famous Quigley matches at Diggle ranges.
Standard 45 -70 dies can be used to reload 45 – 90 ammunition, I have cases available for the rifle.
A fine piece of black powder cartridge history re created with all the benefits of modern gun smithing technology into a beautiful and functional rifle.
