M1862 Dreyse Needle Rifle

Product Details

This is a good, nice clean example of the now rare famous Dreyse needle rifle.

This Dreyse was the first bolt action breech loading rifle adopted into military service. Designed by Johann Nikolaus Von Dreyse it was taken into service by the Prussian army in 1841. It saw service through until 1872 when it was replaced by the Mauser 1871 model.

This particular example is the M1862 Dreyse in 15.43 calibre, is dated 1869/1870 and stamped Erfurt. It has all matching serial numbers throughout, is complete with cleaning rod and is good condition for its age with a nice patina, see photographs.

The rifle is in full working order but is missing the firing pin, the bore is in good condition with sharp rifling and no visible pitting.
