A nice clean example of a Mauser Model 1871/84.
The 1871/84 is the 8 shot magazine version of the Mauser Model 1871. Adopted by the German Empire in 1884 where it remained in service ‘till the adoption of the Gewher 88 in1888.
The rifle fired a .43” (11mm) calibre black powder cartridge.
This particular rifle is in good overall condition retaining most of its original finish. The bore is good and bright with no visible pitting. The rifle is in full working order and is complete except for the bolt retaining screw, this in no way affects the rifles functionality as this was a hold over from the Model 71 with the 71/84 having an additional bolt retaining mechanism.
The rifle has matching serial numbers throughout, is dated 1886 and is marked Spandau.
