Westley Richards Cadet Rifle S/H Calibre .310” Cadet
Product Details
This is a very good example of an early .310” Cadet rifle made by Westley Richards for the New South Wales government as part of the 1902 contract.
These early rifles utilise a miniature MkIV “humpback” Martini action with the external tear drop cocking lever and a butt trap. Some versions also retained the cleaning/clearing rod channel but the issue of cleaning/clearing rods was discontinued and this particular rifle has the channel omitted from the forend.
The rifle retains much of its original blueing and has a nice woodwork showing some signs of use. The bore is in excellent condition and would make a good shooter if put on ticket as a section 1 Firearm.
As can be seen from the photographs the rifle is clearly stamped throughout and will make an interesting and more unusual addition to a collection.
