BSA Model 8 Martini Action Miniature Target Rifle S/H Calibre .22" RF

The Model 8 is one of the rarer of BSA’s line of fine Martini actioned rifles.
Built on the smaller 1” action rather than the 1 ¼” actions of the models 12, 13, 12/15 and 15. The model 8 had a Shortened barrel saving about ½ lb in weight. According to the BSA advertising copy of the day (1933) “it is a handier weapon than the No12 for slightly built adults and youths. It is an exceedingly handy weapon of great precision”.
This particular example has seen some history as it has had the barrel mounted rear sight and the barrel sling swivel mount removed. The barrel also appears to have been shortened slightly and parker rifled in a very professional manner. It is fitted with a Parker Hale 7A rear aperture sight and a Parker Hale FS21 Tunnel foresight, it is also fitted with a Parker Hale foresight element container.
The rifle has also been recently reblued.
Having shot this rifle I can testify that indeed it is “an exceedingly handy weapon of great precision”, especially for shooting offhand. This rifle would be ideal for competing in the HARC Winter Leagues in the Standing Deliberate class.
