BSA Ralock Semi Automatic rifle S/H Calibre .22RF
Product Details
BSA’s unique blow back breech block design was based on a machine gun work developed during the Second World War. It used a radial locking breech block hence the rifles name the Ralock.
The Ralock was innovative in every way having a sealed receiver that caught the empties as they were ejected. The magazine holds eight rounds of .22” rim fire long rifle cartridges, after firing the trigger guard is pushed forward allowing the spent cases to fall out and at the same time cocking the action.
These rifles were made from 1947 in .22” short rifle versions and from 1949 in the long rifle versions production stopped in mid 1951 with only 5,696 rifles having been made.
The Ralock is extremely well made and this probably contributed to its lack of popularity as it was expensive to produce.
This particular example is in good overall condition showing external wear commensurate with its age.
It is a fully functioning and accurate rifle which strips down in seconds, (necessary to prove clear) showing the quality of workmanship, finish and innovation that went into this design.
This particular example is fitted with a Parker Hale 160 rear aperture sight making this a very accurate shooting rifle.
